Goliath

Lindstrand UK built Goliath for the Amazon movie “The Aeronauts” (2019), a historical adventure film inspired by real 19th-century ballooning feats.

It follows Amelia Wren, a daring balloon pilot, and James Glaisher, a pioneering scientist, as they embark on a record-breaking gas balloon flight in 1862. Their mission is to fly higher than anyone ever has before in order to gather vital data about the atmosphere and weather, laying the groundwork for modern meteorology.

It is currently the largest free-flying gas balloon in the world. After the movie’s completion, the balloon was passed around a few times until it landed at its home with us at Wicked Balloons in 2024.
